1 Casting Call - Unpaid
I’m looking for Japanese actors for a short film (4-5 minutes) set in a “cultural exchange party” where the main character (an obnoxious, bizarre western man who is seen as charismatic, friendly and funny by the Japanese attendants) interacts with different Japanese people in a somewhat surreal atmosphere. This short films is part of a planned series about cultural misunderstandings between Japan and the West.

2. Roles required:
Four roles, most of them very small:
· YOUNG GUY (18-21) a shy and rather dull guy who mostly mutters one-word sentences mixing English and Japanese. This is a really short role, only a few words.
· GIRL 2 (18-23): Girl 1’s friend. Hopelessly shy, she doesn’t say a word during the whole scene, remaining frozen with a terrified expression on her face all the time.
· BUSINESSMAN (around 40-50): an average Japanese business person, with a cheerful character. Another short role, he had only says a couple of sentences.
· OFFICE LADY (35-45): a very typical woman doing ”arubaito” in an office. Very shy. (This role is really short, too, she only says two sentences).
3. Audition dates: mid-June to mid-July.
(Filming: second half of July, preferably)
4. Location: Tokyo.
Auditions can be held online, but in-person is preferred.
5. Remuneration:
Unfortunately, there is not remuneration for this project. It’s a really small production financed entirely with my own savings and with no intention to make profit. Join us if you feel the ideas behind this project resonate with you and / or need to gain acting experience.
I’ll pay your transportation expenses and provide sandwiches and beverages.

7. Language requirements:
The roles require some English, but it doesn’t need to be fluent.
The scripts are written in English, except for some Japanese dialogues.
